Warsaw is a beautiful and historical city. If you’re visiting on a budget, you’ll be glad to know that many of the sights and attractions won’t cost a great deal, and some are even free. There are also many options for cheap sleeps around the city. Here are some of the best things to see and places to explore during your time in Warsaw.
Explore the past
During World War II, Warsaw put up an extremely brave, but unsuccessful, bid to hold off Nazi occupation. The Warsaw Uprising Museum is an interactive experience that pays tribute to this time and gives an insight into the lives of local people who lived then.
Enjoy fresh air
Lazienki Park is a beautiful place to explore, with 76 hectares of green space packed into the heart of the city. It offers something for everyone, with castles, palaces, coach houses, open air concerts and even peacocks.
Get above the city
If you want to get a full view of the city, head for the 30th floor of the Palace of Culture and Science. This is the country’s tallest building, and it was a gift to Poland from Stalin. From the top, you’ll get a 360-degree view. For an even more breathtaking sight, head there at night to see the building all lit up.
Eat like a local
There are plenty of delicious and cheap places to eat in Warsaw. Bulke przez Bibulke is a great spot for breakfast or lunch. If you enjoy pancakes, you have to eat at Mr. Pancake, which serves the most elaborate pancakes you’ve ever seen.
