With the cheapest available private jet coming in at a staggering $2.9 million, you might be forgiven for thinking that traveling to your next vacation on your own plane was only for the rich and famous. However, it’s actually more accessible than you think, and the numbers of those flying on private jets is actually rising.
There are now a variety of options available that have helped to dramatically reduce the price and make it more in line with a first class ticket on a commercial carrier. This means that you can now travel to those luxury rentals using a more luxurious method.
Time-share planes
If you want to buy a small share in an aircraft instead of taking on the expense of maintaining an entire jet, a time-share option could be ideal. NetJets allows you to purchase part-time shares and then use them the next time you want to fly. This can make long-haul routes, such as flying between New York and San Francisco, a lot more bearable.
Booking apps
We’re all used to conveniently booking a cab or ordering a pizza with the multitude of apps on our smart phones. Did you know that you can now reserve a seat on a private jet the same way? A number of options are available through companies such as JetSmarter, Beacon, and BlackJet. They enable you to book one seat or even have unlimited travel with a set monthly fee. There are a total of 43 apps for private jet services in the Apple App Store, which just goes to show how popular this method of transportation is becoming.
