Dubai isn’t new to the world of record-breaking structures, but even the latest proposals are a major step forward for the region. One of the newest leisure complexes being planned here could set a handful of world records once construction is complete in 2020.
Dubai already has the world’s tallest building with the Burj Khalifa and is home to a multitude of luxury rentals, but there are still other records for them to break. The Meydan One complex will contain leisure and retail facilities alongside a hotel and residential apartments.
When the building is complete, it is expected that the project will have created five new world records. It aims to be the highest residential tower and house the world’s tallest 360-degree observation deck at 711 meters as well as the highest restaurant at 675 meters. The complex will also boast the biggest dancing fountain at 420 meters, and its indoor ski slope will be the longest in the world.
In addition to having these record-breaking features, the complex will also have 652 retail outlets within a stunning mall that features a retractable roof. There will be an 8,000-person capacity entertainment venue, a water park, a 25,000-square-meter sports facility, a marina with 100 berths, and a 300-meter long sandy beach.
The entire project will cost an estimated $8.6 billion, and it is expected to be complete by 2020 when the UAE plays host to the World Expo.
