New figures show that museums and galleries across London are seeing a growing number of visitors. This increase is being driven by the surge in American visitors to these attractions.
The data, which comes from London & Partners and MHM Insight, shows that over the past year, 2.4 million visits were made by Americans to the top museums and galleries in London. This figure is a rise of 9 percent on the year before.
In addition to the rise in overall visitors, London attractions also score highly in Google searches. Many of those who have booked apartment rentals in London use the internet to decide which attractions to visit while they are there. London is now the world’s most Googled city in terms of art gallery, innovative art and design, and performing arts searches.
More people search for theaters in London than in any other global location. The Science Museum came out on top in searches for leading global museums, with the Natural History Museum in second place and the British Museum third. These were followed by New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art and Washington’s Smithsonian Museum.
London is a fantastic city to visit throughout the year, and their Fall Season of Culture brings together some of the best events and attractions that are taking place over the next few months. This includes the Cosmonauts: Birth of the Space Age exhibition at the Science Museum and The Crime Museum Uncovered, which will be on show at the Museum of London.
